For the past 10 years, Evan has been making music with the folk-rock band The Parson Red Heads, touring the states many times over, and releasing 3 full length records and countless EPs.

Only Light is his first overtly Christ-centered record, recorded over a period of 4 months in Portland, with the help of a large rotating cast of musicians from the Deeper Well Records family (Deeper Well is the non-profit Christian label that Evan co-founded with Josh White of Telecast / The Followers / Pilgrim).

Filled with dynamic performances, the album hearkens back to the music of the 1970's Jesus Movement - taking you through cosmic country, slow burning Americana, lush CSNY-like harmonies, and orchestrated psychedelic instrumental passages.

This song humbly portrays a humble vulnerability in the weakness of our flesh but the Lord is an anchor to our soul. This is not stated in a fatalistic way but relationally as it is a prayer from the heart asking God to be that in our lives. I love the stated aim of deeper well in keeping together that tension of self expression and self denial, naturally antithetical but harmonious when Christ is our life.
